It's been awhile

Hi everybody.  It's been awhile since I last posted.  I guess I just became adjusted to my "new normal" and my scans, etc. were good and I was busy in life, so I haven't checked in.  And now...

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer yesterday.  It's all very new right now so I have many more questions than answers.  During anal cancer treatment (2013-2014), I went through menopause.  The one good thing that came from that treatment, lol.  Then recently I began experiencing bleeding.  I knew that was not good.  I went to the doctor, had an ultrasound and then a D & C.  I honestly didn't think that they would find anything.  But I've been wrong before.  So, my next step after navigating insurance, etc. is to see a gynecologic oncologist.  I know that I am facing a hysterectomy and the doctor mentioned possible radiation.  I feel like I've had the maximum amount in that area.  I'm concerned about healing because of the existing radiation damage.  I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself.  But I want to have my questions organized before I see the next doc.

So if anyone has any suggestions for what I should be asking, etc. I would truly appreciate it.

Judy

So sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis of uterine cancer.  You definitely need straight answers about the risk of radiation to the pelvic area, due to previous treatment.  I have always understood that more pelvic radiation is not advised, but I'm not a professional, so that could be incorrect.  Ask lots of questions and if you don't feel comfortable with the answers you get, I would get a second opinion.  I wish you all the best as you go after this second cancer.
