How do you start your life again?
My wife passed away 4 weeks ago. She was diagnosed last May with stage 4 colon cancer. A little over a year after her diagnosis she passed away at our home under hospice care. She was only 36 years old. I took time off of work and all I can do is keep myself busy. I do chores around the house, take care of the dogs, or just completely distract myself with busy work or tv. The moment I stop I am just overwhelmed with everything. I just feel so alone. I do not know how to start over. How do I start over without the most important person in my life? Friends and family call and check in and stop by, but sometimes I feel like it makes things worse. I sleep about 4 hours a night. I manage to still take care of myself and the house, but its the bare minumum. I started speaking with a counselor and she tells me this is all normal, but I just don't know what to do next. Nothing feels normal anymore.

I'm With You Brother
Hey man, I know exactly how you feel. I was where you are exactly 1 year ago. Keep going to counseling. If you can, find a grief group. That helped me immensley. It's been just over a year for me (May12th, 2017). It's a long road, I can't sugarcoat it but you will get better. I still have many moments, as you will, but things will get better. Don't be ashamed to cry. Not to sound cliche, but crying does wash pain away. Keep going to one on one counseling and keep talking about her. It helps, you will cry but it helps. Just know that there are many of us out here who totally understand what you are going through. If you want, tell me more about your wife. I'd love to know about her, you and your relationship.
