Bad news...

Hi everyone...yesterday I got some bad news.  I had my first ct scan done after finishing radiation and surgery for mandible SSC cancer and the king by showed a 1cm non calcified nodule in my lower left lung .  Biopsy is scheduled but trying to move it up. Needless to say, I am depressed and feel like giving up.  I fought so hard and now this.  Please keep me in your prayers.

    Jbrooks, I’m so sorry the

Jbrooks, I’m so sorry the scan showed less than stellar results. DO NOT give up as you stated. Many of us have had spots light up afterwards only to have it biopsied and be ok. As hard as it is, please try and relax about it and try not to stress about it. Worrying is not going to change any outcomes so try as hard as you can to simply enjoy your family and friends and know that they will be there for you just as we will. Easier said than done, I know but you must try.

    Thanks Billie... I am trying

Thanks Billie... I am trying to be hopeful but my ENT looked worried and that didn't help.. The nodule was not there 8months ago and it is a non calcified nodule. Still , I will try not to worry. Thank you so much for your encouragement.  I will try to enjoy my family and friends .  They have been my rock during this time.

    After my first scan my

After my first scan my oncologist started my appointment with, "I'm so sorry, but your lungs are now full of disease ... the cancer has spread significantly" 13 days later "It's all good, that was just infection."

Regardless, I know several people now with cancer that spread after treatment and one is going on 3 years and still lives life to her fullest.

I met my onc yesterday won't

I met my onc yesterday won't see him for another two weeks. I asked about CT scan and he told me not intil all infections subside. Sounds like it could be 1-2 months. He said when you do to soon you have what OKC described as a lit up xmas tree.

Thanks Darkdancer...I am not sure if you are thinking Pet/CT.  Pet will cause things to light up.  I only had a CT with contrast which showed 2nodules that were not there 8months ago when i was first diagnosed.  I am not sure if I am right,  but that is my understanding about pet scan versus ct.  Please chime in anyone with any thoughts...!

how does a lump on neck

how does a lump on neck preclude metastatic. Doesnt make sense

Be paiteinet on tests. I had tumor in throat and multiple lymphs on one side all the way to my shoulder but it wasnt metastatic. That was 8 years ago.

    Nodules in Lungs

It may very well be a bit of infection, and it could be gone at the next scan. I was told by an oncology nurse, that nodules are very common in my home state due to an organism in the soil. Nodules usually do not mean cancer and most often nothing needs to be done. Keep positive thoughts.

    YOU NEVER KNOW

Hang in there J, you never know.  I had a maybe awhile back, which turned out to be a not when byoped.  So, take a deep breath, and one step at a time, and hopefully this will be a false alarm.  I know that staying positive is easier said than done, but I encourage you to do your best to stay in the positive zone.  I send you a large dose of positive energy.

Our doc said the same thing

Our doc said the same thing about very tiny nodules. They are common in people living in our city- Houston.

    You are right jbrooks...

CT vs. PET.  Nodules can pop up for a variety of reasons so until you know for sure assume they are nothing.  Will keep fingers crossed for you.
