I recently posted this as a response to a thread but think it deserves to stand alone as a Forum topic to help others feeling the same.

Here is a link to a recent essay written by psychiatrist, Adam Stern MD, who is also an instructor at Harvard Medical School. He was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and eloquently explains the anxiety and fear that cancer patients experience  - http://www.wbur.org/commonhealth/2018/03/23/onco-anxiety-twinge-pang

    Perspective

The article explains the fear of anxiety very well. The perspective I would add is that the writer was dealing with a much more challanging diagnosis than mostt of us.
