Dropping HB (blood) level after chemotherapy

My family member completed chemotherapy about a year ago. She never really had her HB up to normal but she was fine until recently when the HB started dropping again. Work-up revealed no internal bleed or any cancer spread. None of the blood supplements given her by her doctor have worked. She decided to try some alternative / herbal methods but Her HB is still dropping and she is very pale. What has worked for people in terms of effectively building blood level in post-cancer patients? She is easily fatigued and pale now.
