Hey girl,
I really don't post anymore, but when I saw your post I just had to send you a short note. You are one of the most inspirational and amazing people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, even if it's only through cyber space. With all of your own health troubles, you not only help others, but actually find the time to foster animals!! You are an angel on earth my friend, one of a kind for sure.
All my best,
Cynthia
Cynthia, that is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me, thank you! You made me cry a little bit.
I'll be honest, since we offered to foster him I haven't been feeling very well and have a nap every day and I'm worried I'm not up to it. They sent me an email today with more pictures of him and I'm so looking forward to giving this little guy a better life. He was pretty rough when they caught him. Maybe he'll give me the incentive to get my butt up more. Actually, the problem is most likely my calcium being up again from the parathyroid issue so I have a script to go get the IV for that whenever I can book in and then I should be feeling better.
Thanks again, you made me feel really good.

I was so grateful to have my dog when I was on chemo. When I felt poorly, which was most of the first week, she would lie down next to me on the couch. Since I only have one son still at home and he works long hours, it was really good to cuddle up next to her if I was so tired I couldn't move. She kept me company and having her there bolstered my spirits. She is very much a part of my family.
I agree Jan, that it is so good to see you posting back on this forum. I lurked for so long but I would see your posts and read them. They were so helpful!
Enjoy your new dog (and your others) and hopefully as the weather moderates you can get outside with them.

Thank you! Yeah, my Brodie is always by my side and very empathetic. He even makes sure I take my meds when my phone alarm goes off to remind me. He'll jump up and look at my phone, then look at me, then he heads over to where I keep the pills and waits. If I don't go there right away he'll go back and forth looking concerned. I can't even go to the bathroom without him.
I found out last night that when Sam- the foster dog- was found he had a toenail so long it had curled and grown through his pad. Poor little guy. We pick him up tomorrow afternoon.

We've officially decided to
We've officially decided to adopt our foster dog. He's awesome! It's like we've always had him! He's been two days without 'accdents' in the house, never barks, is sweet, gentle, snuggly, great with our other dogs, the perfect dog. He doesn't know things like 'sit' but he's catching on quickly. A little bit of brightness in my sometimes dim world. Particularly this week.

Good for you!
Good for you JanJan. 2 months into chemo I lost my beloved Golden Retriever Oliver (colon cancer, just like me), he never left my side. I was devistated and knew I couldn't go thru this alone so I rescued a 9 month old leopard dog, I couldn't even look at a Golden without tears. Cooper was God sent. He took up where Oliver left off, never leaves my side when I'm having a bad day. Just had second surgery, metastacised to my lung. Doing great and Cooper is there to support me every day. Enjoy you new BFF

Thanks you guys! I wanted a
Thanks you guys! I wanted a puppy but didn't think I could keep up with one and I want to outlive my dogs. Getting a dog who is already fully trained is wonderful. He's totally housebroken, never barks, is snuggly and sweet, and just a happy little guy. Our other dogs are great with him, everyone gets along. He's learning the things he didn't know very quickly like staying out of the kitchen and to sit for a treat. Smart little guy.
