post op lobectomy
My mother had a lobectomy on January 9th. The surgeon began with the VATS procedure but needed to do a thorachotomy. She was in the hospital for a total of 2 weeks, and in the rehab center for another two. Now she's off the pain meds, and uses 1ltr oxygen. SHe was not on oxygen before.
The biggest issue was pain management, which improved dramatically after the chest tubes were removed.
So, while I would not say you should EXPECT these issues, you might want to PREP for them just in case. I read this article only after the surgery, but it was helpful even then. I think it will help you to read it in advance: https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/patient-education/about-your-thoracic-surgery
