Has anyone had any experience with ice therapy for any IV chemo eg sucking on an ice cube during the transfusion in order to prevent a sore mouth developing?

    Prevention of Mouth Sores

When I was doing chemo (A/C and T) my chemo nurse gave me precisely that advice. She said to ingest crushed ice, ice chips or a well blended fruit smoothie during the chemo infusion. I brought a large fruit smoothie with me each time. I was very fortunate not to develop any mouth sores. I know of others who DID develop the mouth sores while still doing the ice thing. There is no way of knowing how your own particular results will be. It is so easy to bring along some ice or a smoothie and the potential result is so positive. I suggest you give it a try. I wish you the best of luck.
