Done and Home!

Well, had my surgery on 1/26.  Finally got home yesterday after a week.  Open partial of right kidney.  As for the tumor, they got it.  Path report showed 2cm, Stage 1, Grade 1, RCC with clear margins.  The 2 hour surgery turned into 3 1/2 though as my ureter was cut, so they had to repair with a stent.  I'll get that removed after a month.

 

Developed a bit of an ileus in my bowels which was a nightmare.  Once that resolved though, I turned the corner and am back home.  They removed 1/2 my staples yesterday and the rest next week.

 

So happy to have that thing out of me and to begin the next step of my journey.  Thanks to those who provided info, assurance and hope before I went in.  That was a wild ride for sure.  Super glad to be home.  I'm very mobile, a little sore, but all is good.  I took myself off pain meds in the hospital due to the stomach thing, as they tend to slow or stop progress, which I didn't need.  I've never ever done well with opiods.  Just a tylenol (once) since I have been home.

Congrats on what seems to be anything other than an uneventful surgery.  But now that it's over, may your recovery be swift and as pain free as possible.
