in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

Went for my post operative on Tuesday, January 30.  Doctor gave me a copy right before I left.  He said I should be okay with a small chance of recurrance and recommended another gyno to check up (vaginal cuff)

Here is the report:

 

FINAL DIAGNOSIS:

Uterus, cervix, bilateral fallopian tubes and ovaries, hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy:

Adenocarcinoma of the endometrium, arising in a background of complex hyperplasia with atypia

Histologic type: Endometriod

Histologic grade FIGO grade 1

Tumor Size Scattered foci (largest microscopic focus -11mm

Tumor location: limited to the endometrium

Myometrium invasion Absent

Uterine serosal surface negative for carcinoma

Lymphovascular extension not identified

lower uterine segment negative for carcinoma

cervix negative for carcinoma

upper lateral soft tissue margins negative for carcinoma

Right ovary negative for carcinoma

left ovary negative for carcinoma

left fallopian tube negative for carcinoma

right fallopian tube negative for carcinoma

 

pathologic stage: pT1a pN0

specimen collected january 19, 2018

They also found some polyps but no biggie.  said they were benign.

So that's about it.

He said to watch for the next 3 years of recurrence

He also said that the biopsy I had with my D/C in November is not always accurate.  I was told pre cancer and this is what they found after hysterectomy.  You can have cancer in one spot of the endometrium and atypical cells in another.  Sighs...I was lucky.  God has blessed me.  Thank you for praying for me  It could have been a lot worse.

    yes it is a blessing.  I am hoping that whether it is a member or not, the MINUTE THEY SEE BLOOD postmenopausal, to just call their doctor.  I saw it for days and made the appointment.

    During my transvaginal ultrasound, the lady that did it, said many women see bloody discharge after menopause and do nothing.  She has seen it many times.  This is the best I can do to make women aware that are just "lurking" and non members.

    What I would like to do is get more awareness out there about women's cancers below the belt and get more education.  Breast cancer is so important, but we need more awareness about these types of cancer so women can live healthy lives.

    Awareness of after menopause bleeding and cancer

    I totally agree! I sort of ignored my spotting for 6 months before I got diagnosed. Spotting, irregularly and thought I was just going into menopause. Too busy working...plus I may have psychologically been in a bit of denial as my dear Mom died from uterine cancer just 4 years before my diagnosis. I think that some scientific literature and physician diagnosis algorithms based on age, post-menopausal status - then doctor is to rule out uterine cancer. It turns out to be cancer in the vast majority of women. Seemingly simple symptom with a startling diagnosis!

    Congratulations

    I'm new here and I have a similar story to yours.  I am so glad that you have such a positive outcome.  It was very informative to read the results of the pathology.  I had no idea that it would be so detailed.  I must be reassuring to know that they checked everywhere. 

    I just got the result of my first biopsy today and while it was negative my gyn is still uncomfortable with the results.

    Thank you for sharing your story it has helped quite a bit.

    Hi Puppymom!  love the name.  I am the mom of a 10 year old Pom.  Anyway, thank you, but why is the gyn still uncomfortable with your results?  What symptoms do you have if any?
