Deciphering CT scan report
I see the doc tomorrow but my radiology patient portal gives me access to my reports and it became available today. The lungs are stable, yay. It noted stabke on 3 nodules. Before there were 4 and a granuloma. The previous scan wasn't with contrast. The abdominal is confusing.
KIDNEYS AND URINARY TRACT:
STATUS POST PARTIAL NEPHRECTOMYON
THE RIGHT, WITH RESECTION OF THE PREVIOUSLY SEEN RIGHT LOWER
POLE RENAL MASS.
PRESUMED POSTSURGICAL CHANGES INVOLVING THE LOWER POLE OF THE RIGHT KIDNEY. CONTINUED FOLLOWUP IS
RECOMMENDED TO ENSURE ONGOING STABILITY. NO NEW RENAL MASS. NO
HYDRONEPHROSIS OR HYDROURETER.
CONCLUSION:
1. STATUS POST PARTIAL RIGHT NEPHRECTOMY WITH PRESUMED
POSTSURGICAL CHANGES INVOLVING THE LOWER POLE OF THE RIGHT
KIDNEY. NO DEFINITE EVIDENCE OF LOCAL TUMOR RECURRENCE.
HOWEVER CONTINUED FOLLOWUP IS RECOMMENDED TO ENSURE ONGOING
STABILITY.
It's the "presumed post surgical changes" and the "no definitive evidence" in the conclusion. that make me nervous.

It's good
"presumed post-surgical changes"- Basically this means that your kidney looks different than a "normal kidney" and the presumed reason being is that your kidney was cut on. This is just radiology speak for "part of your kidney is missing"
"no definitive evidence"- Again this is radiology speak for he or she can't see any signs of cancer.
This is a good CT report, congrats!!
