No evidence of metastatic disease vs NED ??

I got the call and the nurse said that my scans were back and that there was No Evidence of Metastatic disease. She didnt say No evidence of disease. I trying to understand the difference. Should I be concerned. I didnt think to ask her the difference. I had a partial hysterctomy in 2016 because of heavy bleeding. I still have my ovaries and after surgery the doctor states she removed a cyst. But it still appear to be on there.  This cyst has been there since 2016 and on all my CTs with no real concern from doctors, was just told I can follow up with GYN now. Could that be why I was told No evidence of mestastatic disease instead of NED. Thanks again for your support.

    Don't sweat it

    I'd say both terms are the same.  When I meet with the doctors after the scans they say No Evidence of Metastic Disease.   I fact the radiologist included that term in their write-up.

    Congratulations--now celebrate!

    But agree with stub... they can’t be concerned hence NEMD

     but very very happy you are on the path

    now time for you to get that cyst sorted out

    Awesome!! Did you lose your whole kidney? Because I guess the only way to describe if you DID have something would be to call it metastatic since the point of origin is gone. But you don't so congratulations!!!

    As a professor in the field I can assure you they are the same thing. The terminology is dependent on what physician is dictating the report. Congrats!

    "NO EVIDENCE OF MATASTATIC DESEASE"

    My wife has been fighting Rectal Colon cancer for 18 months with the doctors wanting her to have the standard radiation & kemo treatments and then the BIG OPERATION with the "**** bag". :(

    We have been trying a number of alternat cancer treatments, vitamen C, diet, and hords of suppliments. Seven months ago we found a great MD here in Toronto who specializes in Alternate Caner treatments and have also been working with him. Our regular Dr's strongly again recommended the Radiation & Kemo which she finally agreed to and finished just over two months ago, during which she also had the Ozone & Vitamin IV high does drip after which we took a number of suppliments recommended by our alternate Cancer Dr.

    The last week of the Rad & Kemo treatments were very rough and the weeks after were painful as expected. However her recovery time was quite short and seems to have no any long term problems and she is feeling great.

    She just had her follow up CT this week and the report ended with; "NO EVIDENCE OF MATASTATIC DESEASE".  Not sure what that ment, so I googled it and found this site with the same question. Looks Very Promising.

    Will see what her MRI tomorrow has to report. Hopefully & Prayerfully it will be the same. 

    I'll keep you all updated.
