I have read that many of you had a variable appetite. I’m day 6 post op Partial nephrectomy. No appetite, but I cannot get enough water! I am so thirsty all the time and then Extra bloated from drinking. Did anyone have this? I know kidneys work on fluid balance. Are they freaking out? Sorry if this is repeat, I looked and couldn’t find anything.

I don't remember being that thirsty. There was a time maybe two or three weeks after surgery when I was urinating very often, but it settled down and got back to normal. I don't remember it very well, but I must have been drinking extra at that time.

I am super thirsty all the time now lol. The 1st week I was not and had zero appetite. I JUST started to get rid of the nausea after 7 weeks. Everyone's body is diff AND who knows what each doctor does during surgery. I know mine checked all other organs so I still get sore and swollen.

I was thirsty the night after

I was thirsty the night after my surgery and drank two or three of those plastic containers of water, but after that, I settled down to my normal intake pretty quickly.  Normal intake for me is about 10-12 glasses of water a day.

I'm a gallon + a day water drinker.  I've become accustomed to that level of intake and my body expects it.  I was drinking this level prior to surgery, so I can't say I've felt more thirsty after.  With that being said, are you drinking as much as you did prior to surgery?

i used to struggle to get in daily water requirements before surgery. Now I feel like there is not enough water in the world. I suppose just the physiology of balancing.
