Sodium lows

Options

developed during Chem over a yr & 1/2 ago.  My Sodium levels are lower than normal.  I don’t have any saliva tho I make it just can’t get out due to delayed Radiation damage to My ducts.  Having to see a specialist in Baton Rouge to see if he can get some released.  After treatment I had saliva, taste, was doing great now I have my sodium drop to very dangerous. Levels from drinking too much for very, very dry mouth.  Last time so low I went down to 109 almost died, & had a stroke.  Doing good not physically disabled but mentally, problems.  Have to have it checked often.  I go below 120, have to take extra salt & not allowed to drink.   Hey Drs you don’t drink when your mouth is desert dry.  It is a form of water poisioning but I only drink Propel & other electrolyte drinks.  Still will drop.  Gotta love delayed reactions.  I have been NED this whole time.  Drs have No answer & hospital stays are a horrible experience.  Just make sure they test you for the sodium if you need to drink allot .   I am losing My mind trying to get through all this.   Be careful of this problem.  Have yours checked especially if you are thirsty all the time.  Can only be test through a lab or ER.

    Gatorade

Drink Gatorade, or Powerade, eat bananas..

Regular salt on food, not rock salt..

I find - at 59 - pre natal vitamins from walmart seem to hold everything in check.

Those don’t work, on high enzymes/ sodium drinks with No sugar.  Clear Propel, & packs of Drip Drop along with Sodium pills.  With totally dry mouth, makes Me want to drink more so you pee more & lose what you have taken in.  It’s a horrible way to live.  Hoping the surgical procedure will work & he can open the ducts so My Saliva can get out.  Fingers crossed for Me, it’s all I want for Xmas.

    A little bit of info

My husband has chronic hypoglycemia - low sodium. Jim slipped into a coma and they slowly increased his sodium level until it was normal. Now, because is hypoglycemia is chronic, his body has adjusted to the lower sodium level and he does not have issues from this - another new normal.

    Hyponatremia

I think you mean Hyponatremia.  Low blood sugar is Hypoglycemia.  I am glad they were able to adjust his level.

For other reasons my body has adjusted and I have a new norm of lower than regular sodium.
