Just Checking In
Hi. It has been a few months since I wrote last but I was thinking about all of you since tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am thankful to have found this group when I felt like my life was falling apart when I was first diagnosed with uterine cancer. I remember feeling depressed and filled with high anxiety, but many of you responded to my initial post with lots of support and I wanted to thank all of you for that. While I haven't posted in some time, I do check the boards to see how everyone is doing and am happy for those who are doing well and praying for those who are struggling that they get well.
As for me, I had a full hysterectomy on September 25th and was staged as having early stage cancer that required no further treatment other than observation every three months for the next two years and if I remain NED, it will then be every 6 months for a few years after that. Of course I live everyday with the fear of recurrence, but just try to remain optimistic, yet I think my fears are normal since I don't think there is a person aroud that has been diagnosed with cancer that fears what if it comes back? Anytime I get an ache or pain I fear this, but hopefully if I remain healthy that fear will lessen.
i wanted to add that no sooner did I have my surgery when my daughter's fiancé's 17 year old brother was diagnosed with a stage 3 testicular cancer. His prognosis is still good, but unfortunately due to the stage of his cancer, he is in the hospital now and will be there for his chemotherapy treatments over the next few days. I think he has to undergo 4 rounds of in patient chemotherapy treatments and this is his second round. It just shows me that cancer of all kinds does not discriminate against things like age in certain types of cancer, but we can only hope and pray for the best outcome possible since there have been so many advances made in the treatments available today, whether it is through surgery, or other methods that mat not have been available years ago.
Anyway, that is really it for now. I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

It's good to hear good news!
It's good to hear good news! You're right though, a recurrence is never far from our mind.
Love,
