Diagnosed 8/2017
I’ve been following this board since I was diagnosed 8/2017 with full right nephrectomy. Mass was 4cm, PT1a. Urologist recommendation is 1 year ct scan and chest X-ray. I am concerned about waiting 1 year, just wanted to get advice from all of the experienced “RCCers” !! Thank you!

Welcome to the club
Mel,
Welcome to the club which no one in their right mind would volunteer to join. There are all kinds of reasons for or against an extra CT at 6 months, including Pathology, CT exposure, Insurance coverage, protocols and guidelines, ect. No one right or wrong answer,

Again every Dr is different. I would be hestiant going yearly right after surgery, but that’s between you and your Dr.0 -

scheduling of scans
I had an open partial nephrectomy in Feb. 2011. Doctor wanted me to have a CT scan every 6 months for the first two years. I had one at 6 months, then at one year. He said everything looked fine so to come back in a year. Had a scan a year later and was told to come back in two years. Last spring, March 2017, I had a scan. Everything still looks fine. Hope everyone has the same luck I had.
