Can someone help me with questions I️ have

i have had 2 paps and nurse practitione said one abnormal the other was my gyn he called and said no cancer everything was fine i would live to be old not to worry. The next day i was scheduled for a coloscopy. The dr said my cervix looked like hamburger meat and part of it was missing, i was in complete shock so bad i almost took part of tools with me, i was so upset!y friend is a obgyn rn and she said they noted on one of my papers a mass on inside of my cervix, I’ve had bleeding in been periods, bleeding after sex, and discharge some that is watery as well as bad back pain. I’m not bleeding really bad just in between periods some and lightly after sex. Can someone please help me? The dr i last seen set up a ct scan and a appt with oncologist. He said i had Cervical cancer it didn’t look good he wrote out a scale and i was one to the last point on end he has no results back from coloscopy. Any one been through this?

Dear CRbylight, I am a vulvar cancer survivor not cervical but still in the vicinity. Take a deep breath and try to relax. Think of this as a bump in the road of your life. You can get through this you already have the tools and the strength. You are not alone. it's been just a little over a year for me (surviving cancer) but Iv'e learned a few things that may help you. Do you have anyone you trust that can come with you to your doctor/oncologist appointments? It can be overwhelming and you may not hear certain things your docotr is saying so another set of ears is good, Maybe your friend or family member can take some notes for you. If you have questions for your oncologist write them down and bring them to your appointment. I asked my oncologist if she knew of any women that had my kind of cancer that might be willing to talk to me. Turns out one woman was willing and became my biggest cheerleader. She helped me immeasurably and I thank God for her! Maybe you can ask your oncologist if there is a woman that has undergone the same diagnosis and treatment that might be willing to talk with you. We survivors need to help one another and support one another!

  Try to eat well and get enough rest. Take care of yourself in every way. Try not to freak out, it never helps anybody and fear is immobilizing. You can't go backwards but must go forwards. You can do this! So move forward step by step. If you believe in God Pray! I prayed a whole lot and had many people lift me up in prayer. How amazing that was. Try not to eat much sugar, sugar feeds cancer. Trust your body and believe you will be well. As you think your body follows. Think good thoughts, thoughts of beating this and recovering completely. I will pray for you and check in on this site to see how you are doing.

thank you and i pray God will bless you. i know God will get me through this he has already answered so many other prayers. It’s hard hearing those words, my Dr could of been a little different about explaining things. i was so scared i was shaking. I’m just A little confused he didn’t even have the results from the coloscopy back when he told me these things only Pap tests? the results will come back today or tomm. It means so much that you answered me. i believe in miracles. From the things I’ve read online it can happen. will definitely take advise on sugar  rest as well as positive attitude. Thanks again so much

I know you can do this! Whatever comes you can move forward believing that good will come from this and God will see you through every step of the way! You are stronger than you think! Happy Thanksgiving. Try to enjoy your day tomorrow. We all have much to be thankful for in spite of cancer!

I will be praying for you. Try to have a friend go with you on your appointment. Whatever the outcome, you are not alone. This is also not the worst thing that can happen to you. You are still alive and every day above ground is a good day. God is with you and will meet your needs with His strength and grace and unsurpassing love.

I too have just gone through this.

It started with an abnormal pap smear. It took week's to get each result back because they have to do this by steps. It's hard. I went through a coloscopy in the office and then a cone biopsy in the hospital. A week later I found out I had cervical cancer and went to a gynecologist oncologist to talk about surgery. I was extremely lucky. It was stage 1. Because of my history - in January I had a bilateral mastectomy stage 2 and in June a melanoma on my face, stage 1. To say I freaked out is putting it mildly. 3 cancers in 10 months. Very long story short I had to have a radical hysterectomy. No freaking fun but I'm 63 and don't need those parts any longer lol.l completely agree please take someone with you. I was so upset I couldn't hear or remember what the doctor said to me. I'm having problems from the surgery but women are tough!!!! And we get through it!!!You will too!!!!

I want to thank you for your reply to CRbylight.  It made me feel better as well.  Thank you for writing, this is all scary stuff.      If you have a moment and can talk a bit more about your experience with vulvar cancer, I started a thread "Vulvar Cancer -- never heard of it and now I have it) and would really appreciate anything more you'd care to share.

Sometimes pop smears and biopsies can come back negatative

I am a uterine cancer survivor, but when the initial biopsies were done, they were either negative or inconclusive. I was very lucky, I have a very astute gynocologest and she referred me right away to a gynocological oncologest. He got me in the hospital within 4 weeks for an exploratory and radical hysterectomy. So, sometimes the biopsies can be weird. If the cells or tissue is not taken from EXACTLY where the cancer is, or are  only epithelial cells, you won't get a reading for cancer, then when you get into the OR they find it as they have the entire organ to take sections from. The pathologist will receive some of your tissue while you are in the OR and they will do a frozen section to confirm malignancy, so the surgen can be sure to check and take other biopsies while you are asleep and open. Good luck, hang in there and take one day at a time. Cancer is a roller coaster ride. It shattered me, and it took a while to recover my mental balance. Stay close to ones that are supportive and you can speak freely with. And ACS is a great resource, and their info specialists are great!
