treatment and prognosis

New to this diagnosis, I'm unsure why it's treated the same as ovarian cancer when they present differently.  Has anyone found the treatment plan lacking?

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Your questions are excellent, and, please let me allow to attempt to answer them (pardon my oversimplification):
Regarding the lacking treatment, that is true in general for all cancers, the main reason being they are very complicated diseases, and we are just beginning to understand them.
Regarding the similarity between peritoneal and ovarian cancers, there are several key features:
    1. Peritoneal cancer is more common in women than men
    2. The organs are with very close physiological proximity
    3. Similar symptoms
    4. Both commonly affect same types to cells, called epithelial cells.
    Best wishes.
