Hemoglobin level
They always check my hemoglobin levels before chemo - have had four blood transfusions. If hemoglobin is in the low 80's, they have given me a transfusion because they said the chemo will knock it down another 10 points or so. Whenever my hemoglobin gets low, I know it because I get out of breath doing the least little thing.

Levels
Some levels are different for everyone, but if they want to give you a tranfusion you should consider it. My white/red count was low so I'd have to have my husband administer an injection of nupegon daily for 5 days before infusion. They probably will talk to you about the next thing to make sure you are able to get the next infusion. My plateletts were down too and as far as what they told me there's not much to do with bringing them up but they should advise you on how to move forward. Wishing you the best.
