scans and anxiety
I have scans yearly now . every febuary. my scan day is a s follows. i drive 1.5 hours to hospital. have my scan in am usually by 8 am. at 1pm i have my visit with the surgeon who performed my neph.and he tells me the results. no waiting sounds great huh? problem is i get so anxious sitting in that room just twaiting for the doc to come in and give me the results. i feel like im just waiting for someone to either come in and say i just won the loto or someone is going to come in and kill me. me bp in the am before i have my scan is usually normal to slightly high but when they check it just before goingg in to wait for the results it is 190 over 120 at times. thats what stress and anxiety do.i have asked to just thave the doc call my wife wiith the results so i can avaoid the strees but he refuses. so i am thinking having my family doc set me up with scans and then having him call my wife with the resuts. i will have to wait a few days though if i go that route. should i just deal with it or do you think i should change it.

I say Deal
It sounds horrific that you are getting so anxious and I am sure we all understand
But to get the results and verified by your own surgeon in half an day I will continue
In uk you have to wait up to a week and it is not nice

Waiting
Is the worst I know how that feels I don't have the option to find out right after scan. I have wait at least 24 hours to get results and that's me driving to hospital to get the report otherwise my appts are not till a week later. I want to know right away. Not in my patient portal till Dr sees me for appt.
Best wishes

The Waiting is the Hardest Part
There's a song for this. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "The Waiting', chorus line: "The waiting is the hardest part". Check it out.
It is not clear if you are saying you wait in the hospital from the time of the scan until the 1pm appointment or if you are waiting after you check in for your 1pm appointment.
If you are waiting over 4 hours in the hospital I would suggest getting out and doing something until appointment time such as shopping, window shopping, parks and gardens recreation, walking, library, or chilling out in front of a chicken coop somewhere. Develop a strategy which suits you.
If you are talking about waiting after the 1pm appointment time then develop your own strategy for occupying your mind such as reading, playing games on a tablet, surfing internet etc.
Don't get too stressed about it, because as Tom Petty (RIP) says, the waiting is the hardest part.

my wife and I go out after my
my wife and I go out after my scan and get lunch and she usually does some shopping, sometimes we go to the casino. I thought i was lucky to get results back the same day. Tom Petty was great one of my favorites . It is a good feeling knowing the results as soon as i do but man i do get worked up. need to find a way to relax .

You can ask your doctor to prescribe Xanax or another medicine for anxiety. You can take it right after the scan.

Or have a drink while you're visiting the casino. Ormaybe it's the casino causing your BP to go thru the roof? I just got back from Vegas, I know the casino can cause stress too. haha
I'd stick with the routine personally.....seems awesome you're able to get results the same day.
