Grade 2 Diffuse Astrocytoma

I am 38 years old and recently diagnosed with a Grade 2 Diffuse Astrocytoma.  I had no previous health issues and went to bed feeling fine one night.  I had 2 seizures in my sleep and woke up in the hospital ICU where they diagnosed me with a 6 x 5 x 5 cm tumor.  I am currently 6 weeks post op from having a craniotomy with a tumor resection.  They could not remove all of the tumor, but were able to get a majority of it.

My neorologist wants to just do follow up MRIs to keep an eye on the remaining tumor for changes.  The radiation oncologist feels that radiation is needed for this type of tumor.  Since my doctors are disagreeing on my treatment plan, I am getting a second opinion from Cleveland Clinic next week.  Does anyone have this type of tumor, and what was your treatment plan?  I haven't even been given a prognosis yet so I don't know what to expect.  I've searched online (I know that's not always the best thing to do) and the prognosis doesn't look good.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

    Diffuse Astrocytoma Level II Brain Tumor 20 yrs later...

    Golf ball size tumor right frontal lobe resected in OCT 1998, I am currently 49 y.o.a.  Found as a result of CT Scan after having grande maul seizure prior to going into roll call.

    Radiation treatment after surgery removal, focal radiation beam to the area only.  Out of work for 1-year (disability retirement) got medically cleared to return to "the Job". Currently working a highly successful LEO career. The "new" tumor was identified by an Annual MRI, now this one grew near the original area of resection of the golf ball size tumor, this new one is the size of a ping-pong ball.  Six months of CHEMO(TEMODAR Pills), the new tumor stop growing currently. Now just having MRIs every 2-3 months monitor its growth. As far as it affecting my daily "LIFE" I don't really notice anything, not that I focus on my condition. I'm just aware of my condition, I share my "STORY" if the situation presents itself. "Life's too short, to sit around & worry & feel sorry for yourself" I train/workout weekly, go to my job and when possible I travel. I feel "Truly Blessed & Highly Favored"...Hooah !

    Grade 2 Diffuse Astrocytoma

    Husband has the same diagnosis.  Cannot operate due to location of tumor.  Midway through 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy to make sure we stop this thing in its tracks.
