Friday
Will be my last 6 month pet assuming all goes well. I'm 3 years out. For 2 months, constant mouth sores, and the side of my neck is always sore along with my throat, I'm not feeling optimistic. I have chills, fatigue, constantly sick. I can't go through this again and I have no support system, just my 11 year old son. Ssc bot, metastatic to one lymph. 48 rad, no surgery, no chemo

Do you mean you're 3 years post treatment and are still dealing with the mouth sores & sore throat over the last 2 months? Not sure I understand, but I feel for you. I'm almost 3 weeks post RADS (I only had 30 rad, but no chemo) and I'm still dealing w/ a lot of pain. I'm sorry that you don't have anymore support and I hope you find a lot on this site. I'm glad to be one of them. Hang in there.

Thank you, yes my last treatment was 3 years ago. I never got close to normal, but a massive flare of symptons for 2 months is very concerning. I am dreading Fridays pet scan. I see so many resilient people on here, but it's broken me. I only go on for my son. I google for promising info and there isn't any. I'm 44 with an 11 year old. I can't do this again.

sure you can
You can do anything for your children.
Mines a bit older - and used to be pretty useless, but me getting sick helped him grow up a lot.
The worst part, worst day, was telling him I had cancer, because it broke his heart, and mine.
So as a fellow single mum, I know you can do it. they need to be more aggressive tho, so you don't have to face it again. But, you can and will do it, for your son, if not for you.

You can do whatever is necessary
Pjreilly,
I too was a single mother for many years. I learned a whole bunch about moving forward for my son's future. I learned even more about prayer and faith. I prayed for you when I read this post. I am going to keep praying for you whenever prompted by God. You take the next step, the next breath, and just keep going.

No hope found on the internetPjreilly said:I'm praying I'm Ned. So there
I'm praying I'm Ned. So there will be no telling anyone and no treatment
I am so sorry you did not find the support you are needing at this time in life. Please don't make such huge decisions about your future without getting all the facts. You have found this message board, and you can find more hope than imagined here!
My husband is elderly and NED - after a recurrence of his primary tumor. We have found there were actually MORE treatment options the second time around, and it was nothing like when first diagnosed. Our prayers have been answered, just not quite the way we had expected.
I will be praying for you to get the results you are looking for. But should you not, you may be quite surprised at the options available.
Please keep us informed. All is not bleak.

I am glad you are sharing here
I am off the treatment about for about 18 months. Still experiencing soars in my mouth and neck. Waiting for results from the scans are very stresfull. I passed through the one last week. I am trying to stay away from the thougths of "whatif results come positive for cancer". I try to focus on the moment I am in which is the only reality. In my mind I know that results could be positive and negative, but I kind of keep this on an imaginary shelf to deal with them when the times come, ie results are ready. My strategy does not take all the stess out but help me to decrease it to a level that I can live with. I participated Mindfulness Based Cognitive Treatment classess last year to be able cope better with cancer realated stress. When I started, I wasn't believing that this could help, but I found them very usefull. My faith in God and support from my fellow belivers are also helping me alot, too. There are alot of support groups for people living with cancer that I am participating. You will be in my thougths and prayers, you are not alone.

The fear never goes away completely
I'm hoping your symtoms are some other minor, easily resolved ailment. I just crossed 4 years post, all the while being totally free from symtoms and quite confident the beast was slayed properly. A month before the 4 year milestone, I had what felt like a lymph node under my jaw. It stayed there for a couple weeks, brining on stress, worry, and anxiety I never had before. I decided to get it looked at and by the time I saw the ENT after he returned from vacation, it had gone away. He scoped and poked yet reassured me it is always good to have things checked out. Good luck.

Chill Out
Now is not the time to hit the panic button. I am only 8 months out ssc tonsils/3 lymphnodes/surgery/ 36 radiation and 7 Cisplastin treatments. I have good weeks and bad weeks. Did you get checked out for a case of the Thrush? I am 52 and will fight as long as needed to win this fight. You need to chill and wait for that NED to come back in a few a weeks. Then let the celebration begin.
