Nausa, headaches, and sore throat
My last treatment was July 20 of this year. I stayed nausus (spell) that whole time with sore throats and headaches, general body aches, joint, muscle. Fatigue. blah blah blah all the SE you get from treatment.
But now it has been a little over a month and I am still doing all this stuff. I know part of it is from the Als I have to take for the next 5 yrs. and that some of it takes time for your body to heal.
But I dont understand the headaches, the sore thoat on one side that usually went away with a hot drink, and now it does not. and the nausua comes and goes and when it comes it is so heavy and the pills are not working too well for it.
Has anyone else had this? I go see my reg GP in September for this. I dont have a cold.
Thanks and Hugs,
Annie
Drives me nuts I can no longer spell or get my grammer correct. I use to rock at that. Cancer is such a theif!

I am sorry you are feeling so poorly. I can imagine that it is discouraging finishing with one phase only ot realize that the next phase brings no relief. It stinks.
What AI are you on? How long have you been on it? I am thinking it is possibly the AI. I have heard that many women have to switch around from time to time. I have not started this phase yet, but trying to figure out which one I will start with.

Amidex is my Al. I have been on it for a long time, they started it way before they stopped the herceptin. I am thinking they started it in Jan. of 2017. I remember loving the snow because when you first take it you hot flash to bd it is pathetic. I finished the herceptin treatments July 20th.
It really is frustrating. I hope you get positive results with your ALs.

Annie

Pretty sad...
I am still having sore neck and throat and the nausua is off the chart. No cold, no tummy ache. Of course I am very tired.
Onc ordered an MRI to my brain and neck. Here is hoping it is only like mono. My friend looked at me like I was nuts when I said that, but I know all the BC will get that.

See an ENT doctor
Hi Annie,
If the AI isn't the culprit, and your MRI comes out okay, your GP may recommend that you see an Ear Nose Throat specialist. My Oncologist referred me to my regular doctor when I had severe sore throats and a cough. My regular doctor sent me to an ENT where I was given a good look over which included a thin plastic tube going down my throat to examine my vocal cords etc. Well it didn't take long for the doctor to find a polyp on one of my vocal cords. I had it removed.
Afterwards I still had sore throats but was given a nose spray which I sprayed down my nose to hit the back of my throat. It took quite a while to get over this sore throat, but after another visit to the ENT, he declared me cured but that it would take time. With each passing month the sore throat got less and less. Then again, I didn't have nausea like you're having.
I do have post nasal drip which doesn't help. My regular doctor at first prescribed Flonase which didn't improve anything, hence the visit to the ENT doc.
First rule out your meds which may be causing your problems. That would be a simple solution.
The nausea part may well indicate something completely different from your sore throats. Being a BC patient myself, I know what it feels like to worry about anything and everything that causes problems with our bodies!!
The MRI may shed some light on what's going on. It's hard to figure out just what test or doctor is needed to solve these problems! Let us know how you make out with the MRI.
Wishing you well! Kats2

I had a sore throat on AI
It took me 2 months to convince my Onco that it was Armidex causing my sore throat. I had been scoped by both an ENT and my Radiation Oncologist who both saw inflammation, but no lesions or infection. Several docs tried to tell me it was acid reflux. I dealt with that for over 10 years - Nexium - then boosted to 2x/day, finally Dexilant. When my post treatment /AI symptoms started I was first also put on souped up Zantac (Ranitadine), but ENT and RO did not see a difference after 2 weeks.
Finally I was switched from Armidex to Femara - 6 months now, and doing ok. Yes, joint pain, but severe sore throat is no longer.
best regards,
Kathy

I am about to start on Femara. I have no hair growth and I am wondering whether the Femara is going to prolong the lack of hair.

HapB,
I had started AI after my hair was already growing in, but I recall being upset that it took almost 3 months for it to come in after Taxotere. The last part to begin to surface was on the crown of my head. Now on the Femara, that's where I see the most thinning. I have been taking Biotin ( OTC) for a few months, and I actually new growth. I don't know if it works, maybe it was just it's time to rejuvenate, but I'll take it.

canceled test
I decided that jumping to a huge test for a sore throat, neck and nausua was, at this juncture, a bit overkill. So I talked to my onocologist about this and he said, ok. See the GP this week and then if she cant find the answer, I think ENT is a great 2nd option. and if that dont find the answer, we will jump to the MRI's from there. I feel good about this. I do think it has to do with the Al's. Might have to make some changes.
I am also going to try this Bioten for my thin hair. Thanks for the info Kathy.
HUGS,
Annie
