What to expect

My mother was diagnosed with lymphoma. She had a node on her leg that kept growing and got infected. The doctor sent her to the hospital immediatly and it was removed. It was sent for diagnosis and came back as lymphoma. She just turned 90. She refused treatment due to her age and being frail. She also has lupus. She now has about 6 or 7 other swollen nodes on her leg. She has lost a lot of weight and is getting fatigued very easily. She also gets severe back pain. I was wondering what we can expect with the progression of this.

Thank you for your help in this.

    There are many factors involved

As to lymphomas, they exist in Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's (these are broad categories), and indolent and aggressives varieties within each sub-type. There are somewhere in the range of 61-73 different lymphomas. Without knowing the specific type and sub-type, without knowing the aggressiveness of her particular version, and without knowing the state of her health, there is simply no way of predicting its advance. Depending on the type, there are treatments that she could receive in reduced dosage that might make the disease livable for some time.
