Mesch,
Hi! I hope you are doing well and recovering from the radiation. Things have not been going smoothly with my treatment at all. As the nurse keeps saying, "you have a lot going on in your body". They could not treat me Friday because my blood work was off. So, I am home trying to get stronger for next week. I am a little scaredmat what could be wrong, but I am chasing those thoughts away right now. My hair is sheddi g likemcrZy the past few days, so the chemo did something. I am kind of in anholding pattern until they figure out what is happening in my body.
I hope you are able to enjoy the 4th of July weekend. It is a big deal in the town I live in, which claims to have the oldest 4th of July parade in the country. I just sent my daughter out to buy me a patriotic scarf to put on my head.
Thanks for thinking of me. I am fighting the blues this weekend.

thanks! My daughter has been so sweet and she is adjusting to me being sick again, which helps. I love having her here. It sure is funny watching the role reversal for the first time. Love is the best medicine! It has been isolating to be so sick the past few weeks.
We'll see wha this week brings. I am not looking forward to another infusion, but as you say, I will continue because I have to.
Thanks for thinking of me, Mesch!

Hey there
Thinking of you with your low counts and were you able to get back on treatments? I hope you were.
Today, my bone pain is off the wall. It will come and go throughout the 3 wks. Some days are better than others. Today is a bad one. I knew it the second I got out of bed. I fight taking pain meds for it because I hate them and the constipation. Although, I found out early on not take tylenol and then 2 hours later, when it did not make a dent, to take a pain med. Rebound headaches hurt so much worse.
I am glad you got to spend time with your daughter. Family and friends are important to have during this rough time. Please let us know how your doing this week.
Hugs,
Annie

My wbc was too high! Not sure what is going on at all. They are hoping it is just an infection that will pass. I hope so, but I did not have any symptoms of an infection. This has not gone smoothly at all and has been pretty downhill since the darned port problems. Can you believe that I am still black and blue from the port that was put in a month ago? I will know more Friday.

Wow Hap, that is so awful. When I first had my breast surgery about 2 wks went by and then bam, I got an infection in the incision. Somewhere on here is the details of my horror. It was a mess and it took 2 months to heal. Which put off my chemo. I would go into the surgeon every week and he would clean it and pack it and I would cry, not that it hurt, but that I was just a nervous wreck over it. I became a germophobic from that. He suggested Dial anti bacterial and I have used it since.
I hope they find out the source of your infection. I am sorry you have so much bruising. Pray going up for answers and healing. Please keep us updated.
Hugs,
Annie

Hi Annie- I don't get on her often anymore, but saw your post and although I did not have bone pain, back in the day when I went thru chemo (2010) many were using Claritin (not Claritin D) to help with the bone pain. Ask your oncologist about it.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will try that.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time! You have been on my mind, I wish that there was something that I could do to help! It's so good to hear that your daughter is there with you for the 4th of July weekend! Hopefully you can spend the weekend resting, and enjoying the time with her! I find that there is no better cure for the blues than spending time with my family!
From my small limited experience with cancer treatment, it seems as if they do not always know what is going on, or maybe they don't want to say what is going on because they want us to continue with treatment (with good reason!) My second week of radiation I had vertigo, nausea, dehydration, and the doctors said it was not related to radiation. I got a burn under my arm the third week, they said probably a reaction to the all natural deoderant they recommended for me to use during radiation, they couldn't give me an explaination when I mentioned that it hadn't occured under the arm that wasn't on the treatment side. At the end of treatment I was given a burn treatment Silvadene and told that it may help under my arm. I loved my care team, but I still believe all of these things were related to radiation, and I would have continued treatment regardless, because I knew that I had too.
Please reach out when you are having a rough time!
