From what I have read the cure rate for HPV positive cancer is 85-90% regardless of stage. The chance of it coming back is 10-15% with a 50% chance of survival after it comes back. From what I have read and researched survival rates aren't affected as much by age as they are by smoking, tumor burden ( T-stage) and lymph node involvement ( lymph node tumors measuring more than 6mm, tumors on both sides of the neck and tumor in lymph nodes in the lower neck zone 4). I also read an interesting article stating they have discovered 2 types of HPV head and neck cancer with one being more aggressive than the other type.
