Triple negative status change

I am new to the boards and am grateful for the support and information.

i have been diagnosed on biopsy as triple negative but also grade one. That seems improbable My surgeon indicated that might change after the lumpectomy when there is a larger specimen to evaluate. I don't fit any of the usual characteristics for triple negative. I.e I am 75, not African American or Hispanic and have no one in my family with any type of cancer. Anyone out there with a similar situation or information?

    Hi Pooch:  I have TNBC stage 2. I am 59, diagnosed at 58. No one in my family had breast cancer, I am caucasian. I had a lumpectomy after chemo 16 rounds. Then surgery, then 5 weeks of radiation, now 4 more rounds of chemo. The tumor was large so I had chemo before surgery.

    Thanks, SLS100.  I'm sorry you have had to go through so much but it is helpful for myself to know there is someone out there who is in the same situation.  I had a lumpectomy last week and am waiting for the second path report from that surgery.  I see the radiology onc on Thursday next week and the medical onc on Friday.  Depending on the new path report I may well ask to have the slides reviewed by another pathologist since, as we know, that negative or positive receptor status dictates the treatment plan and I want to make sure it is correct.  I am fortunate to live in the Boston area so getting a second oopinion shouldn't be too difficult.  Thanks again for responding.
