Itchy hands, arms, and neck

in Colorectal Cancer #1

I started to develop some spots on my hands and lower arms. At first they were nothing, but later became itchy. Not too bad, but annoying. Then it started around my neck, like where my shirt collar touches my neck. Has anyone else observed this side effect?

    Rash

    What chemo are you getting?  If this started while you were receiving the drugs, you need to call your onc right away.  It could be an allergic reaction. I reacted to oxaliplatin at my 15th treatment. I didn't start with the rash, but I did get it.

    Yeah. I did tell them. They looked at it and said it was just some exema (sp). Like I said. I't not bad. Just annoying. Just wondered if it was common.

    Mine is allergy

    Mine is allergy not rash, and I got it from the clear tape the nurse put on to secure the needle on the port. My skin gets itchy and very uncomfortable. Now they apply a little cream around where the tape is going to reduce the itch and discomfort. Hope your rash will go away soon

    I have just had the same reaction as you described, come on to see if anyone else had this.  I was told that either the Oxaliplatin or the 5-Fu chemo. can cause splotchy patches on your skin, first it was my hands and lower arms, but now it is also on my shirt collar area.  I don't think it is an allergic reaction to the chemo but you can be too sure always best to have it checked out, and report to your Onc. Dr.

    It started with the hands and arms. Then the neck. They said, not uncommon :-) After the two week delay it subsided somewhat. Cycle 5 with lower dosages has reduced the effect.
