Stage 2 SCC of tongue with mets to lymph node

Met with Oncologist Dr. McGaw today for the results of the PET scan. He said that I would only need to be treated with Radiation and no Chemotherapy. I asked what stage I was in and he looked through his notes and said Stage 2. I questioned why only Radiation and he replied that he was surprised at that determination as well. He explained that they had to follow the particular protocol as per my CAT scan results. He said there would be no further follow up with his office. I did not have a sense of relief as I expected I would have given these results. I am worried that Radiation will not be enough. Any one here had only Radiation for stage 2 SCC of tongue with mets in lymph node?

Hi Matt, I see my RadiationCivilMatt said:no chemo they said
Linda,
I would consider no chemo necessary as fortunate and add to that no surgery. You are in a stage II sweet spot.
I wish you the best of luck, when does the show begin?
Matt
Hi Matt, I see my Radiation Oncologist tomorrow and will know more by then. I initially told them that I did not want surgery so it was my decision. However, I did tell them I would want to have Chemo and Radiation. So today when he told me I would only be getting Rads I was taken back.
