A message from the grave
I heard from NANA this morning.
Who is Nana, I hear some of you asking. She is a member here on CSN. I say is, because she lives through her words, though Cancer took her life from this earth.
I had the privilage of meeting Nana once. Diagnosed Stage III. NED five years. Cancer returns with a vengence. She told me on our visit that she believed the Cancer came back because she had become slack with her diet. The longer you're NED, the easier it is to slip back into your old habits. She told me 'Tru, don't slip back'. I've slipped back.... until today, when I read one of her posts in a thread that has been resurrected. Nana, she is talking to me from the grave.
Thank you Nana! I hear you, and this time I will listen. TRU

Thank you for posting this.
Thank you for posting this. What sort of diet are you on? I was trying to find some information on dietary recommendations but a lot of them involved so many supplements. I'd like to hear more.

Healthy life style
I am just going to try to make my diet allot more healthy. I don't mind treats, but I tend to think I need them every day, several times a day. A treat should be just that, and not something you turn to every time it takes you fancy; and believe me, chocolate and chips take my fancy allot.
I am going to do allot more juicing. I have a wonderful book 'The Big Book of Juices and Smoothies'. But of course, you can basically juice whatever you want.
I am going to try to cut down on the bread. I like bread WAY too much. I have bread baking as I type, and Friday I will be making Hot Cross Buns for Easter. So you see, its a work in progress.
I am restarting an exercise program and getting back to doing the easy Yoga DVDs I have on my shelf. I do allot of walking.
I don't take supplements. I've never taken suppliments. Just a personal choice.
I need to lose 20lbs at least. But weight shouldn't be my motivating factor; staying NED should be.
Too much rubbish food out there, and I'm not opposed to eating it. Time to buckle down.
Thanks for asking, and let me know what you come up with.

Hi Sue
Reading this thread broke my heart. Remembering all the people who are gone is so sad. I think she was speaking to you, so please listen. I want to keep enjoying your photos and especially your videos.

It is good to see you popping by the forum. I still think of your brother and his valiant fight.
Yes, we have lost so many wonderful members. Far to many across the years. Nana was a blessing, always trying to find ways to beat the beast.
I will certainly try to do much better. It is sad that even Cancer can't stop unhealthy eating habits.

What a beautiful smile she
What a beautiful smile she had, how heartbreaking that she's gone. G****m cancer.
I do eat better than I did but I never ate that badly to start with so I'm not sure what else I can do. Due to my IBS I avoided fast foods, processed foods, things like that. Anyway, I hope that all of us can stay as healthy as possible and we won't lose any more of us. That they find something that actually works well before we have to give up hope.

So sad. Thank you for the
So sad. Thank you for the reminder that we need to be vigilant about our health. Diet, exercise, and whatever it takes to reach that goal of ridding our bodies of cancer! and/or to be our healthiest selves while dealing with this dreadful disease.
When did she pass away?

Nana's right and so are you
Nana's right and so are you Sue, it all applies to me, as I've gotten a little soft on my diet, and exercise levels. Works got my muscles in fair shape, but my cardio is weak, and this after I bought a high quality eliptical. I'm about 25 lbs above my weight after the last surgery, I get veggies and fruit at regular intervals, but my portion control is not where it should be. Eating only 2 meals a day deludes me into thinking I'm not overeating, but scales don't lie. The weight needs to be gone by Sep. for sure so the mesh is in there tight, fixing the hernia. The other reasons you mentioned are valid as well, so come Monday [can't really start on Easter] I'll commit to some new habits. Thanks for sharing Tru.............................................Dave

She was so nice
If I recall you both met up right around the time I joined here. I had a chance to "speak" with her a bit here. Nana, The Lion, WinterMarie from my first year here .... I try my best to remember all the things discussed and think of them all of the time.
