Prayers and positive vibes needed!
Hi all,
This isn't totally cancer related but since joining I have felt nothing less than the utmost support and caring from all of you. Today is a big day for my husband. I have mentioned in some of my other posts that we were hit pretty hard with 2 big blows. My husband was not offered a teaching contract for the new high school they are building (he's been at the current school for 24 yrs.) Long story. That was right before Christmas and right after Christmas he received his diagnosis. Through all of this he has remained as positive as possible. Through chemo and rads he has also been applying & interviewing for teaching jobs. Nothing has worked out. Today he has a second interview consisting of my husband actually teaching a 50 min class at a high school. As you know we are in our 7th week. And the mucus has set in. He has been choking and it's worse when he talks a lot. So teaching a class today is a challenge. We really need him to land this job for a myriad of reasons. He is a phenomenal teacher (Yes, I am biased) but he has former students that come back to visit and tell him that during their college science classes they rememebr what he taught them and it helps. If you all could offer up positive vibes or prayers, whatever you are comfortavle doing, that would be amazing. Every little bit helps. I know he would appreciate it as well. Thanks, friends!

Good Luck Today!
Your husband is one tough fella! I hope the school is understanding of his situation in case he has trouble.
You are in the home stretch! It may get worse for a while after treatment finishes, but for my husband, he was good to go within a month or so. I hope you are as fortunate!

He is a tough one! His current school has been amazing, very supportive. It's the new administration for the new school that is lacking. But, he doesn't have to deal with them so we are OK. Thank you for your words of kindness and encouragement. It feels amazing to be in the home stretch!

Glad to hear he "rocked it out"!
For him to pull that off while still going through treatment and recovery is a testament to his strength and resolve!
Isn't it, though! I am continually impressed and proud of him! He's amazing and watching him go through all of this and still be able to smile and laugh just solidifies what an awesome human being he is. I am very lucky to be married to someone like him. Thanks for your kind words. It means a lot.

I think we all understand the wait and see game. I know I'm getting really good at it. Haha. Things are moving along for us. Poor hubby had three wisdom teeth removed on Monday, but he went back to work the next day! He will have his mask made and the mapping done on the 18th. Then he has a baseline swallowing test on May 1st. He should start treatment right after that. I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I think I've been in a sort of denial until around now. It just seem surreal ...
I think I hijacked your thread! Sorry about that! Haha.
Have a nice Easter Weekend!

You so did not hijack anything! This is what we are all here for! Glad you're hubby was able to go back to work after wisdom teeth were removed. He sounds like a tough one. That's good! i know what you mean; once we had the diagnosis and all the other tests and appts. We were so ready to begin but on the other hand we didn't want it to begin at all. Crazy ride. we have 4 treatments left!! We are so ready for this part of the journey to be over. Have a lovely Easter weekend!
