Intersticial Brachytherapy
Hello!
I was newly diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer with no lymph node involvement on March 5th. Three weeks ago I had a Sentinal Node Biopsy, and a lumbectomy. I am now scheduled for Intersticial Brachytherapy in two weeks, and I really want to talk with a patient that has experienced this. I am really nervous about the catheter placement, and of course the possibility of a future recurrance. I would really appreciate any information that anybody can provide.

Interstitial brachy therapy
Hi Meschelle. I had interstitial brachy therapy in 2009. I'd be happy to talk to you about it. Is there anything in particular you want to know? I had it done by one of the old-time radiologists who more or less developed the treatment, in Scottsdale Arizona. When are you having it done, and by whom?

crselby,
I am so thankful for your response!! I have not been able to find anybody that has had this treatment and I am supposed to be leaving for Scottsdale for the tretment next weekend... The doctor's name is Dr Kuske. I hear that he is a great guy. I am really nervous about the catheter placement, having the catheters in my body for the duration of the treatment, healing time, really all of it... If you had to do it over again, would you? Is there a reason to choose this invasive treatment over whole beam radiation? Thank you for any information that you can provide! I wish that I had ssen this post when you first posted!
