My surgery is done!
I know some of you kind souls wanted me to let you know when my thyroid surgery is done. I had it removed on Friday and it went well. No pain meds needed at all! And no vomiting after surgery (a first). I got home yesterday.
Yesterday was my first day of the synthroid. Had an emotional breakdown. A knockdown, full fledged sobfest. I am sure I alarmed my husband as I don't cry easily. I know it is part of the journey. And last night, instead of taking my cholesterol pill, I took another synthroid! Lord help me!! LOL.
Thursday I go for my follow up report with the doctor. I am sure it will all be good!!
Hugs to you!!

My dear JoJo, you HAVE been
My dear JoJo, you HAVE been on my mind of late. Thanks for letting us know how you are=survivor!
So you no longer have a thyroid? My brother had his removed and is doing great.
Brain chemistry changes our moods, sometimes suddenly. It could be that which set you off.
Maybe now your husband is more sensitive and attentive? Hope so.
BE REAL I SAY!!
Sending you healing hugs my sweet friend,
Jan

when I was first diagnosed with RCC they found a spot on my thyroid that was turned out to be papillary thryoid cancer? So, a month after they did my partial nephrectomy they took out my thyroid. Those first couple days were an adjustment, but I really didn't have issues with the synthroid meds. Take your time and rest your voice. You'll probably have 6 week blood checks like I did for a while until your numbers are where they are suppose to be. Be prepared for some adjustments in the meds until things balance out. Good luck, Jojo!

Jojo,
If you keep eliminating your medical issues, then you are going to get very healthy, younger, and even more beautiful. You'll get the synthroid under control and you will feel sooo..good! All I know is that your news makes me very happy about your future. FLY.

You will get the part about the pills at what time when and where pretty fast.... once you get a routine. I have to take my thryoid med the first thing in the am.... one hour before anything else... another drug, or food. I learned that, when for about four weeks of deciding to take it right before I went to sleep.... my TSH shot up to 25.5.... argh..... My oncologist was outright mad that I had no instrucions on how to take it. So, I learned. Seems you need it first thing to get going, that food interfears if taken at the same time. That if not taken one hour before any other meds, or food... then I have to wait 2 hrs after that.... and still one hour before anything else.... Well, first thing when I open my eyes, and am really getting up.. that's best.
My very best to you while you even out JOJO... Love you.....

Don't want to speak too soon
Don't want to speak too soon, but I think I am getting the hang of the pill in the morning, then wait, wait some more before I take the rest of my meds. LOL. I put my synthroid on my nightstand now....keep the other stuff somewhere else. So far so good!
I went to the ENT yesterday and he already removed the steri strips. When I got home, my husband couldn't even find the scar. Unbelievable. It is exactly a week ago. Path report in a couple of weeks. He told me that the goiter had been wrapping itself around my trachea....I just figured it grew so big it was pushing it over. The human body is amazing.
Thank you all for your sweet thoughts and words! Very happy to report that things are going super!! Love you guys!

Stomps - did you have your
Stomps - did you have your whole thyroid removed as well? And if so, may I ask why? (I am sorry if we went over this before already, but my memory is HORRIBLE). The reason I ask is that my oncologist was very worried about mets to the thyroid from the RCC. So I am curious to hear your story.
BTW - I was instructed to eat an hour after synthroid. Wait 4 hours before any other meds or vitamins. It does get a bit complicated (for me, anyway! LOL)

I think my thyroid was all over the place after surgery and IL2, when I seem to have contracted every disease known to man (and probably a couple that weren't). So I'm now taking 300mcg a day and 225 a day at weekends.
I dont know why, I assume he knows what he's doing so I just do what I'm told.

I take
a 100mcg. of synthroid. I've always taken it at night with all my other evening meds. Including my cabo. I'll have to look at this. I do it this way because that is the procedure in nursing facilities and assistive living centers I'm aware of. Something new to think about.
