Pre ENT visit
Hello! I am returning to this site after aprox 2 yrs. as I have a new concern that I thought was remedied! 2 yrs. ago my Doc referred me to an ENT as I had a blockage on one side of my nasal passage! History of allergies and previous smoker! I quit 11 yrs ago. The ENT diagnosed me with a turbinate dysfunction. He stated that the swollen turbinate may go down after time being on Flonase! Or it may not and I may elect surgery but it is sometimes worse! I elected to continue Flonase with NO surgery! Fast forward 2 yrs later and I am having a similar problem with with other symptoms! I have the same blocked nasal passage but often with bloodly discharge. I also have a recurring sore up inside the same nostril. The Doc took one look and referred me to an ENT again. He said it look very inflamed. My other symptoms are blood in sputum. Pain in nostril with quite severe sinus headaches. And recently my neck lymph glands have been sore to the touch. Within the last week I have been having pain on the side of my tongue and towards the back of my mouth. I went to the walk in clinic where my doc resides and was seen by an intern. He mentioned errosion when he looked inside my nose and that could be causing the lymph glands to be sore. He didnt see anything adverse in my mouth. I have an appointment to see ENT Feb. 13th! I assume they will scope me as they did before. I feel kind of silly being here as I dont have a diagnosis but am secretly very worried. I am interested to find others that may have had the same or similar symptoms! Nasal blockage, bloody discharge, blood in sputum, recurring sore in nose and hoarseness! I would appreciate any response. Everyone was so kind when I was here before and it helped me through a nerve wrecking time in my life:p

I have not experienced these symptoms but you asked for any response. Given you're current symptoms, you may want report these to your ENT's nurse to see if they want to move your Feb appointment.
Thank you for your reply, it is appreciated! My Doctor sent them the report, exam, ect. I am dismayed that it takes so long to get into see a specialist:( That was the case 2 yrs ago as well. But living in Maine, I can't say it surprises me! We have made some advancements and even a new cancer center locally was finally added a few yrs ago but a long ways behind the bigger cities! I did mention to the intern today that I would like for my Doctor to order a CT scan of sinuses! He said usually the ENT would order but he would tell my Doc:P We shall see what occurs! I've been through the waiting before. Waiting for appts and diagnosis but I am glad I came here and I will look around and read others situations and learn all I can, just in case it's worst case scenario. Thank you again:)

The waiting is always a killer...
emotionally, anyway...it's a rare duck who gets right into the ENT. I'm glad you gave a heads up on wanting a CT. When I first got sick (which was in October), I had no clue what was going on....and wouldn't have been able to even decide on a specialist ....I was so tired, my heart would sometimes literally feel like it would pound out of my chest, or I'd get unheard of (in my case) headaches. It wasn't until a lymph node popped out on my neck that my PCP directed me to an ENT....and my appointment was 3 weeks away!!! It was nerve wracking, but in the end, it didn't make any difference. Hopefully, this is not cancer...and you can go on your way without worry.

Thank you so much for your comment! About 1 more month to see the ENT! I have been here before, twice, playing the waiting game but it doesn't get easier! I am trying to take other's advice and try not to worry myself to death. I am going to continue to check into this site and read the stories as well as educate myself just in case! Hopefully it will be a diagnosis easy to remedy but if not, I want to be well armed with as much info as I can have! I have family and friends that I have lost to cancer so I love to see the stories from the survivors:) It gives other people hope! I pray for you all on your recoveries and continued good health! Thank you again! God bless<3
