Newbie
Hi everyone!
I'm Shannon from the Tampa area. I was diagnosed with SCC, lateral tongue, on Wednesday. I haven't had scans or been staged yet. It is all so new. My consultation at Moffitt is Nov. 9th. Until then, I am trying to read as much as I can. I have a fabulous support system. My boyfriend and Mom are going to be there to help take care of my daughter and support me as I deal with this. My mom is fighting her own battle with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma ,but is strong and doing well.
I am sure I will have a ton of questions! Right now I'm just waiting to see where this path will take me!

welcome
Shannon,
Welcome to the H&N forum, sorry that you are here, but hopefully we can help you.
One of our most popular H&N members was treated at Moffitt in the Tampa area. He had great success and hopefully you will too.
There may be a lot coming at you over the next few months, but you will learn and become an expert as we all did. It sounds like you have a great support system.
Good luck,
Matt

Welcome, and sorry you need to be here.
Welcome to the group, and also sorry you need to be here. The waiting is the hardest part. So while you do wait you might want to browse the very first post. Superthread (Read Only). It will have terms and even answers to questions you don't even know yet. This is very scary and the unknown makes it worst. For me was when it was quite and I was trying to sleep. The mind seemed to kick into high gear with all sorts of questions.
When you go to your doctors write down your questions and leave space for the answers. Now just hand it to your doctor. This was he will see all of them and mine even wrote the answers as he explained them. Always take someone with you. The answers can throw you at first and you can go blank.
The best thing to remember is we have had many here with the same and will help you get through this. It is beatable.
