Scheduled for Surgery

Hello all,

After a three weeks of CT scans, and a Colonocopy (no issues),  I have been scheduled for Surgery on 10/12/16. I decided on staying with my Urologist after speaking to my doctors who all spoke highly of him. I also feel comfortable with my current health care group and hospital, so I am good. It was gonna take too much time to get approval for a second opinion out of network as I am in an HMO and needed approval which may or may not have been given. Also my tumor is 6cm and I don't want that thing getting bigger. I want it out ASAP.

I am a little nervous, but your stories and experiences have given me hope and some knowledge of what is to come.

Thank you all for your time and being here, it has meant a lot to me.

I wanted it out ASAP too..  give yourself time to heal and don't over do it. I too got reassurance and comfort from the folks on this site, a wonderful group of people.

Waiting to here from  you and sending good Karma.

Better days are yet to come.

Better days are yet to come. The waiting is the worst part, once you're done with the surgery you'll begin healing physically and emotionally. Mine was 10 cm, 25 months ago and I'm NED.

Wishing you successful surgery and speedy recovery

    Uneventful

    Iggy,

May you have an uneventful surgery. I would say painless, but I would be laughed off this board.

Its good you can get on with it

We'll be thinking of you on the 12th. All you have to do is go in, have a nap, and then do what your told when you wake up. I had some interesting dreams involving Kiera Knightly and Helena Bonham-Carter, but generally I hope you have as boring an experience as possible. If needed put PBS on the TV.

    Don't forget to do breathing

Don't forget to do breathing exercises after surgery, they are important. My husband neglected them and got pneumonia.

    Good luck on 12th!

    Best Wishes Iggy

I'll be praying for you and that your surgeons hands will be accurate, quick and thorough.  You'll soon be on the mend and this will be a thing in your past.

Thank you all for your wishes

Thank you all for your wishes and prayers. I will update everyone once it's over and recieved the results from the pathology report. I am hoping they found this early, but am ready to deal with things if not.

    Thank you for being here.

    Breathing is great...

Breathing is great for reducing anxiety while waiting, too!

Lately, I've been doing (slow) 4 count inhale, holding the breath for 7 counts, then exhaling for 8. No fair hyperventilating (although that will take your mind off of other stuff - but it's not recommended ;-) ).

All the best - prayers and good thoughts for you and your care team -
