Appendix Cancer
Dear Friends,
I have always gladly made myself available to help others, especially those with appendix cancer. However, for the next few weeks at least, I won't be answering emails and such, as I have to take care of myself.
I've had a recurrence after 9 years of NED, and am headed to Sloan Kettering for more surgery in a few days. My anticipated stay is several weeks due to the complexity of the surgery.
Thus, much as I love to help others find the appropriate care, at this point I must take care of myself first.
For those new to Appendix cancer: most important is to find yourself an appendix cancer expert. You may have to travel. I do. However, that will make all the difference in your care. Appendix cancer should not be written off as "just a variant of colon cancer." On hearing those words, run to an expert.
I will be back. But for now, time to take care of me.

Take care
of yourself for sure, Alice. So sorry you are having a recurrence. That truly sucks. Thank you for letting us know. I will be thinking of you, hoping that all goes well with the surgery and recovery and that you'll be back here soon afterwards sharing your knowledge and insight.

Pass the timeNewHere said:Thoughts With You Alice
I am heading to MSK Thursday for my surgery. If I am kept longer than ancipated and am there when you are, I will try to meet you.
Oh, how exciting! Well, I guess not really, but exciting that it looks like you will both get to meet. I've met several members now, but under allot better circumstances (Can we say Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden). Anyway, maybe you can both walk the halls together.
I wish you both the best in the world. May your surgeons hands be guided, and your recovery swift and without complications.
Will watch this space for updates.
Cyber hugs all around (I have a great smiley for that but forum won't let me post).
