i had my biopsy and it came back stage 1, grade 1 RCC. Mixed feelings. I know it's best case scenario for cancer but it's still cancer. Surgery is scheduled for October 3.

    Welcome and glad you came

Welcome and glad you came here! No one likes to ever hear the "C" word. Once you adjust your emotions to a plan of attack, it does get easier. Stage 1 is treated with surgery, then monitored for awhile. You are in good hands.

Hopefully your surgeon is an expert on RCC and will be offering you the robatic, laproscopic surgery. Is he/she? If you want to know more, I am  happy to share my experience in our email or on here in the main area of posts. I have had 4 abdominal surgeries, 2 were laproscopic. Ilearned to work with my body and not against it.

We'll be here for you, and walk this journey along side you, if you choose.

Sending you healing and internal serenity.

    Warmly, Jan

    Good luck TK

If I remember correctly, your tumor is under 4.0 cm.  Are they going to perform a partial or full?

    You will be fine

    Tkdgal,

Your prognosis is excellent. All of us have fond memories of the C word and the fact that they want to yank out all or part of your kidney, WTF. That too shall pass. Again you will be fine. Once you are nephed you will learn the secret handshake and get a club beanie.

    Great news

That's about as good as it gets with a positive diagnosis.  Should be a "one and done".....with follow-ups of course.  Best wishes for an easy procedure and recovery.  Are you having a robotic lap procedure or open?

I'll keep you in my prayers.

    Robotic

14 years ago when I was nephed they were not doing neph's with robots or partials. I was part of the Laproscopic, non robotic phase. Devinci himself did my surgery.

    Hope all goes well

There is a good chance that catching it early and having surgery means you will probably be okay.  Stay strong.

Mine too was 3.5 cm and had

Mine too was 3.5 cm and had partial but open. No biggie; recovery was not bad at all. So even if they have to go with the open procedure it's not as bad as I had feared. All the best!

    All the best

All the best with your surgery. 3.5 is still small enough to be fairly well-behaved.  All the best with your waiting time (I've found various artsy things helped me keep the figits at bay), surgery, and recovery.
