Heart Scans
Have they done any heart scans? Such as an MUGA heart Test, echocardiogram? While I was taking treatments I had a MUGA scan every three months to check my heart to make sure the Herceptin had not messed it up. What they are looking at is your ejection fraction and it is suppose to be like 50% or better. A friend of mine did have heart issues during treatment and her chemotherapy was held for a few weeks then resumed.

Echocardiagram
i am triple positive. My chemo regimen is ACTH. I finished 4 rounds of AC and have had 4 of 12 Taxol and Herceptin weekly treatments. There is a risk of congestive heart failure with ACTH. I had an echocardiogram before my first AC chemo. Another echocardiogram before taxol started. I will have another after taxol ends. I will have Herceptin infusion every 3 weeks after taxol for about 8 more months. I will have 2 more echocardiograms during the Herceptin treatments and one after the last infusion.
I believe the oncologist compares the various tests to see if there is a significant change. Hopefully there is not or I suspect treatment dose could be lowered or stopped.
My advce is to ask about having this test done and continue to monitor it.

ppurdin....my bc was triple positive, which means I had 6 rounds of taxotere/carboplatin/herceptin. The herceptin can cause heart issues, so my onco sent me every three months for an echo cardiogram. In fact, the pharmacist at his practice wouldn't even mix my meds until she had a good echo report in front of her! One treatment was put off for 2 weeks since I couldn't get immediately in for an echo! I finally have my last herceptin treatment on 10/26! So glad this portion is over & done!
