Hi Everyone!
Just checking in with a little update. (Tongue SCC Stage I). Almost 5 months post surgery. I have moved to New Hampshire and no receive care at Dartmouth. I love that everything is there. Lab, pharmacy. all doctors.
I quit smoking three months ago.
I had a follow up with the surgeon recommended by my surgeon at Yale. They can do a minor surgery to "fix" my tongue, but he wants to try speech therapy first. Honestly, this tongue has been driving me mad. But, I'll try the therapy first to see if that helps. He said the surgery is not extensive but the recovery would be the same as before (yuck).
These months have been very difficult. I'll be seeing a counselor here to help. My younger son moved to California last week and we're sad but happy for him. He seems to be excited about the move. My older son is really sad. They are very close.
I guess there is never a time in life where there are no challenges. I guess I'm just grateful for the opportunity to face them.
