in Kidney Cancer #1

Hello eveyone,

Its been awhile since I've posted on here. I pop in every once in awhile. But today I'm looking for a little information. If you know my story. I have had partial neph been one year NED. My son too had RCC this past year. He had total neph. Both of us stage 3. But he was clear cell, me chromophobe (in the middle of a second opinion from my original pathology report; geneticist recommended)

Anyways, Thank God I convinced my son to go across the street to MDAnderson for follow up care. He has done genetic testing (no genetic markers) and he is part of their kidney cancer research. This [ast week he finally has had the baseline scans done. The oncologist says things look good but there is some soft tissue near where they did the neph. She says it looks like normal scarring from the radical but they want to watch it for awhile. Has anyone ever had a similiar situation? He had his full neph in November. He's feeling a bit down because he realized today that he will not feel free from this cancer fear thing for a very long time. I think we all know that feeling.

I am so grateful that I can be a comfort to him because I know exactly how that feels. You want to go on like nothings happened and live the way you did before cancer. 

Any information on scarring tissue near neph area would be greatly appreciated.

    Possible bone met as well

    I forgot to mention that the doctor also was concerned about one of his ribs. Ant thoughts. Unfortunatley he saw a Physician assistant today so she could be over cautious? Or NOT? Any advice , my son is freaking out.

    Wow, both of you in a year???

    My mom was diagnosed with a bladder superficial tumor a couple of months after my kidney tumor was removed. She asked if it might be hereditary, but her urologist said probably unrelated. Cancer stinks enough without your family member joining the club with you.

    Yes cancer stinks! My son is only 37 years old and a father of two young boys. He's done some genetic testing and there appears to be no genetic markers that they know of. But good news is he's in good hands at MDAnderson in Houston. It just stinks! But one thing it does keep you in line with whats really important in life!

    CT scan report

    Ct Abdomen With And Without Contrast Result Date: 7/25/2016

    1.

    Postsurgical changes compatible with right nephrectomy. Small soft tissue density within the right renal fossa, measuring 1.8 x 0.6 cm which may represent postsurgical scarring.

    2.

    Hepatobiliary: Scattered subcentimeter liver hypodensities, corresponds to cysts seen on outside MRI.

    3.

     

    Tiny sclerotic focus involving the posterior left 10th rib, is nonspecific but may represent a small bone island. No definite osseous metastases seen.

    Good to hear from you again.

    Good to hear from you again. Sorry for the anxiety for both of you. Even if it turns out to be "nothing" until you know for sure, only WE can understand that kind of anxiety.

    So give us your worries and we (I for one) will take some of it for you. Breathe..concentrate on other things, best you can including countring your blessings best you can. Then... give us your worries.
