    New Normal

Some are lucky and jump right back into jobs, hobbies, life, ect.  Not me.  I am over five years out from chemo(6) and brachytherapy(5) and have never gotten back to near what I was.  I do not expect to now.  I only do what MUST be done to live decently.  I am waiting any day now for the state Health Inspector to quarentine my house..especially the ice box!  There is not a lot I can do about it.  I've tried different things to no avail.  It's like all of this has aged me twenty years in five.  Just try to do a little every day, if you can't, don't stress about it.  It is what it is!  I "talk" a lot to friends and relatives on the computer and phone, play computer games, crochet, sew, and have taken up coloring.  Old lady things, but, hey, I am an old lady!  Give it time and keep your mind as sharp as you can, and go out to events you REALLY want to do and to heck with the rest!  Best, Debra(jo)

    Thank you

new normal, I guess thats it. Makes me feel better knowing I am not the only one. I guess we in this situation understand the fear when a scan is coming, I have one in a few days. The fear tells me I am sick again thats why Iam tired. It has aged me as well Debrajo I walk past a mirror and think who the heck is that. I am really glad I found this group. hugs and prayers Cindy

I'm tired all the time too.

I'm tired all the time too.  I can fall asleep anywhere.  It's just horrible.  It's been eight months since surgery and six months since chemo.  I guess my new normal is sleeping ten hours a day!!!

    Love,

    Eldri

I am over two years out from chemo

and I can tell you that I am not the same energetic person I once was. I seem to run out of steam too quickly and experience bone-weary exhaustion. Of course I am 2.5 years older since my diagnosis, but I suspect my age doesn't account for all of my fatigue.

Eldri, like you I can fall asleep easily and need at least 9 hours of sleep a night.

    No time

to be tired. Diagnosed in March. Surgery in April. (Very tired) Husband has cerebellum stroke in May. Still dealing with it all - tired or not! Sub lingual Vit B12 drops daily helps with fatigue for me. Tired seems the new norm.

    Tough

Ahh Baby, I feel so for you.  You are doing the right thing, just focused on "gettin' it done".  I pray for your strength and health.  You know, you are allowed to ask for help when you think it is appropriate.  Sometimes staying crazy busy is good medicine but if it hurts your health, ask for that help...  God bless you and comfort you.

    Anemia?

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about your fatigue. Have you told your doctors?

I had really bad anemia right before my diagnosis and sometimes it made me feel like I literally couldn't even lift my feet to walk. Maybe you have undiagnosed anemia? If so, there are ways to treat it that can make a big difference very quickly. You don't want to let that linger as it can have some really bad affects on your other organs.

Please talk to your doctors let us know what they say. Wishing you strength and positive energy, Kim

    Thanks

for all the kind responses. I have a scan Friday then see my onco the next Friday. First time I had to wait a week after my scan. I will tell him about how I am feeling.

  • Me too

I'm about 1 1/2 years NED but still not the "old" me. Tired frequently and neuropathy pain in legs and feet.  I know I should exercise but most days I just sit.  So I've gained about 40 pounds since diagnosis.  I do things crochet, scrapbook etc ,but "lazy" things. Family is planning a trip to Disneyland in Oct.  I'm going but I'm sure I'll slow them down. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that hasn't bounced back.

Yes, be sure to have possible

Yes, be sure to have possible anemia checked out. I suffered from it before surgery. I never expressed my extreme tiredness and wish I had. I had two units of blood after surgery and felt so much better!
