Sometimes
Sometimes you hear exactly what you need to hear, from out of nowhere.
I was leaving Chemo today and was getting on the elevator on the chemo floor when a nice older woman (I'm 67 so....) got on after me. I was feeling pretty down in the dumps after the failure of the PD-1, all the rounds of chemo, all the rads, all the side effects and all tumors. I was so down that last night I sat and wrote last letters to my wife and just a few close friends and entrusted them to my attorney for delivery.
Anyway, we get on the elevator and I said "Don't you just hate coming to this floor?" She looked at me and said "Son, (pretty funny someone calling me son) they are keeping me alive, so I keep coming". "Agreed I said, but it's been four years and it's getting kind of old for me." She said, "I've been doing it for 12 years, I'm used to it and you learn to accept it because life is worth living. The day I decide that's not the case I'll stop, but it's not today." With that the elevator opened on the first floor, she turned to me and said "smile, it's a beautiful spring day you are going to miss if you're not careful", and walked off like she didn't have a care in the world. Man, did she manage to lift my spirits.
I wish you all beautiful spring days.

who appear just when we need them

Joe, thanks for sharing...
We all benefit from words of wisdom and a push to see the upside of things. From a caregiver's perspective I will tell you, your wife is ever thankful and grateful that you push yourself to be on that elevator and endure what you must so that she can be with you on a beautiful spring day. May you both enjoy each and every one of the days you share.

Glad you shared this, but happy you experienced it.
You just never why this happened at this time, but Karma can be good as well. Just at the right time for you, she was there.Sometimes prayers get answered just not how we thought they would. I am glad you got to enjoy today.

Angelrcaulder said:Angels unawares
An encounter by chance?. Hebrews 13:2, Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Every now and then God sends one of His many Angels into our life, sometimes only for reasons He knows, other times because we request help or have a need of something.

Beautiful experience. I am
Beautiful experience. I am glad she was there at the right time, and that you shared this experience. I've had some of those encounters at rough times in my life (lost 3 family members to cancer in the space of six years), and was petrified with my diagnosis last November.
