Dear Ron. I hope you have something special planned for your birthday.

Remember, your friends here are thinking about you, and wishing you the best.

You are a constant. We are so grateful for the many years you have been NED, even though they have been anything but easy. We are grateful for your years of support and good advice. May we see many more.

    Thanks friends.

I didn't have much of a birthday. I worked but was under duress. I saw my nephrologist on tuesday. He said my kidneys were good and the cyclosporine was doing its job . So I said how come I feel so bad. My oedema is bad and it is ramping up the peripheral neuropathy in my legs. Anything else ? Yes I breathe ok but I don't get enough oxygen. He checked my legs . The oedema was up past my knees,he checked my lungs and he said there was fluid in them. He also said that there was a heart murmur that could only be a leaky valve. So I have severe peripheral oedema ,pulmonary Oedema a leaky heart valve and almost certainly congestive heart failure. I have to limit my fluid intake to one litre a day(it has been 30c all this week and same for next week )I have to take my diruetics twice a day now and it is making me mighty unwell with the heat. I don't think it is safe without supervision considering the heat. He also thinks I may have pulmonary hypertension. I think I may have been lucky to get to my birthday. I have to stay on low fluid until I lose two kilos of fluid and see if it makes breathing easier. What a crock. I added up all of my chronic conditions the other day and i am up to 17. What's more none of my doctors are interested in my type two diabetes or high cholesterol. My neph is certain it will be heart or stroke that will get me, I guess with an enlarged heart , congestive heart failure a leaky valve and nearly 11,00 premature ectopic atrial and ventricular heart beats as well as several runs of tachycardia a day he might have a point. My blood pressure has not been under 140 on high and 96 on low for two months and thats on 5 bp meds a day. I don't know when it will come but i suspect it will be quick.. Such is life at least it won't be feaking cancer. Hugs to all Ron.

    Sorry I missed your birthday

But you are a day ahead of us down there, as my daughter, who lives near Melbourne, reminds me  when I'm a day late with greetings.  Where in Australia do you live? I'm sorry you are having such a bad time of it just  now and hope you find relief for at least some of your problems. Are you on any sort of special diet for the diabetes and the heart problems?

Take care, hang in there, and  celebrate your birthday  later when you feel better. And I do hope you  will feel better soon.

    hope the edema is down

Wow Ron, that's a lot on top of the cancer you had some time ago.  I hope they can get your heart under control.  There's a new way to replace a leaky valve without open heart surgery.  My 85 yr old aunt had it an it helped her immensely.  They go in like for placing a stent but instead a valve is placed and it opens like an umbrella pushing aside the old valve.  It's pretty cool.  good luck, Traci

PS Happy Birthday, a bit late!
