Lymph node involvement in groin / arm pit

Greetings Everyone, 

During my hysterectomy I had 23 lymph nodes removed - all in my pelvic area. Prior to my dx I had a lot of pain in my left groin area and my arm pits. I told this to my oncologist prior to my hysterectomy but she couldn't feel any swelling and felt the chemo that followed my hysterectomy would address the issue.

After each infusion (I've had 4, my 5th is this coming Wednesday) I've had debilitating pain in my left groin area, lasting about an hour and subsequent bouts of pain in the same area during the 3 week span between infusions, seemingly brought on by activity. I had pain yesterday just walking thru Costco. I meet w my radiologist/ oncologist on Tuesday regarding th 25 external radiation treatments I'm scheduled for and want to ensure my PET scan looks at my groin and arm pit lymph nodes -- I'm totally paranoid I have cancer in those lymph nodes and want them dealt with.

I guess my question is, has anyone's external radiation treatment targeted groin and arm pit areas?

I did not have external radiation.   Further most PET scans go from thighs to head.    Another note on radiation   Once an area is radiated you cannot have radiation again in that area.   You may want to discuss that issue with your radiologist.   I have had armpit pain and have brought this up with the doctor and during mammograms.   So far it hasn't been anything and nothing showed on scans.   Groin area nodes may be best to be removed surgically which is what I did. but that was 5 years after my original diagnosis.  

Please have a candid talk with your radiologist.  

Another thing and I know this by experience pain may just be that - pain.    Sometimes I have so much pain and when I was due for a scan I was sure I was going to get bad news.  Instead I received good reports. 

Did any of your nodes test positive?   What was your diagnosis if I may ask

external radiation

Yes, they will specifically target and radiate any 'hot' nodes they find with the PET scan.
