Oops! I think I must have offended my colorectal consultant. I had a check up yesterday. He doesn't want to see me for a year! Yay!!!

i will still have scans that are due in Spring & will see oncologist 6 months from now, but, 'so far, so good'. Treatment finished 25/1/13.

That is fantastic news!  I think we all look forward to the day when our colorectal doctors tell us they don't wish to see our rear end for a whole year!  I wish you nothing but more great news with your upcoming appointments!

Thank you! I know my fear of a recurrence will never disappear, but to put it on the back burner for just a little while is good. More than good.

I still have 2 more significant appointments this month. A follow up in the skin cancer clinic following the removal of a growth off my thigh in Autumn & an MRCP scan to help diagnose the cause of my dilated common bile duct (both on same day). Have I mentioned before that I feel like I am a secret shopper of the NHS?

I have to admit, I know many people don't understand why people choose to work in mental health (as i do), but to look at and examine rear ends I cannot quite imagine someone saying 'I want to be when I grow up..... A rear end expert'. But I can't tell you how thankful I am for the Prof who has looked after me...... Even though the NHS failed me at the outset & sometimes I have had to fight for my monitor schedule to be tweaked. I am very thankful

I have often wondered myself what persuades one to go into the colorectal specialty.  It could be that they desire to be a doctor and realize that due to the nature of that specialty, there aren't as many doctors, which translates into more earning potential.  I think endocrinologists are in short supply, which would probably be a good specialty to get in to.  I have a great nephew who hopes to go to medical school to become an endocrinologist.

I hope your next appts. will go well and nothing serious is discovered.  For now, you can atleast not worry about your backside!  :)

I finished up my treatments January 2009.  My colon rectal specialist released me from my annual exam this past June (2015).

7 years! Congratulations! Does it seem like a distant memory or does it remain on the back burner? I think I will always be a 'back burner' except for scans and review appointments when the front burner goes on at full heat......

    congratulations!

Congratulations on hitting the 3 year mark.  I hit mine a few months ago.  I continue to see my surgeon every 6 months but the oncologists are only once a year.

That is such awesome news!  I remember now that you and I both finished up our treatment within a few months of each other.  I'm so glad your CR doctor has released you.  Would you mind asking your doctor to call mine and tell her to give me the boot?  Laughing  Congratulations!

    Still Fresh on My Mind

Anal cancer is still fresh on my mind.  Anytime something out of the ordinary pops up health wise I worry.
