I am here too long for my long term disability.
I just received a.New letter and form. They want to know if my prognosis has changed. I receive long-term disability. Was given stage iv status, and 3-6 months, and have been unable to work since recurrence w/mets. When I called to see what this was about, I was informed my company is questioning my status since it has lasted so long.
Being the quiet gal that I am, I said, so they need a new diagnosis because I have lasted longer than they want to pay? The gal just said she had to send out the letter because the company is requesting it, as my dx was "terminal". I said I will get it to them on my next visit in 2 weeks, they need it faxed. Only gave 3 weeks from the date of the letter. I almost LAUGHED.... just said I guess fighting with all the chemo, radiation, hormone blockers, misc. Meds. has kept me alive, but because I am still alive, could cause me to live in total poverty. Not able to work, yet, turbulent want to pay even though I paid for the long term benefits.
She said they will determine if I am still eligible within 30 days. Seriously, between Medicare and my company, it has been a fight every year or so, then you throw IRS into the loop, and I am totally frustrated.
Hugs,
Carol

Hopefully
I hope your docs, like mine, know what to write so you never have to be re-eavaluated again. when I called about the letter they said my docs already handled it, no problems. If there was going to be another re-eval, I would already be 65, so mute point.
Wish you the same outcome dear ninja

I think we all know that the job of insurance companies is to NOT pay in order to stay in business, but this is just plain stupid. I have a sense that this will get resolved, Carol, but why do you have to go to hell and back in the meantime? I'm happy you're still here, Carol, and wish you didn't have to deal with this crap.

Disability
Isn't it awful or crazy or stupid or or or.... that we have enough to deal with not being well and our jobs and state disability want us to jump through hoops or we'll be dropped?
I don't get it. I'm 46 and have worked since I was 16 & never in my life used disability until now. They question me constantly as if I am faking. I'm happy to show scars and invite them to sit with me through chemo if they would like to.
Best wishes ~

It is my work long-term disability. I got to the office had my appt. Told the doctor, but forgot the form. I LAUGHED and said I am taking to long to pass. One of the office girls was shocked that I said it, the Dr. LAUGHED and said the same thing, they don't even disguise what they are saying.
I will call the office Tuesday and make sure it was all faxed over! Between my benefits department, Medicare, and IRS, I could have qualified for stress benefits!
Hugs,
Carol

Kind of a mute point here, or anyone with a brain would think. Most people don't go from stage iv to cured, and these are the brains who have our medical lives in their hands....

I think most of us after this long ends up saying what they think.... I see the rad s onco at 130p today. They wouldn't tell me anything about the scans but called me about 830 or 9a, Tuesday a.m. I had scans last Monday. I am hoping she found something she can fix and that she doesn't just suggest the whole body rad s again.
And, I sure hope my med onco gotthe paper work in by Thursday or they will cut off my long term disability. I will see. It is a joke at this point. Between the ins., work benefits, and IRS, I could scream.
Hope it all goes well. I was trying to h old off t I'll l after Christmas for the scans because I didn't want to mess up Christmas, but it didn't go my way. At least it made it to 2015 so I don't have to pay the deductable!
Merry Christmas!
