Joint Pain with chemo
Hello ladies, my sister has had 3 rounds of carbo/taxol...just recently had the 3rd one and one of the worst side effects she is having is joint pain. Is this normal and can anyone suggest how they've overcome it?? She said her knees, hips, ankles everything hurts, even when just sitting. thank you!!

Claritin
I take the 24 hour Claritin starting the day before chemo and for several days afterwards. Not everyone gets the joint pain, but I figured I would be proactive about it. I've had no joint pain but for a bit after my last one, #4 of 6, and that may have been because I think I missed a day with the Claritin. She should check with her doctor, but I know many women who have used it during chemo. Hope this helps.

I remember those days. I did
I remember those days. I did not know about the clariton but did take the hydrocodon to help with the pain. I also took advil betwwen the hydrocodon. The joint pain lasted day 3-5 then it went away till the next treatment. I also took those days that I hurt off from work. When I felt better I went back to work. It is doable and she will get through it one day at a time. Praying for her and you. trish

Thank you all for your
Thank you all for your replies. I told her about the Clariton and she said she had remembered them telling her at some point that she could take that but she didnt realize it would help with the joint pain. She has since sent her husband to the store to get some and just took it. Thanks for well wishes and prayers! She said you are all so nice!!
