Bad news/Good news
Yesterday and today's chemo had to be postponed because my platelet count was to low. We will try again next week.. i knew it would happen, but I was hoping to get in a few more treatments before I ran into trouble. My anemia is also back and I had almost climbed out of that hole. Bummer. Good new: My CA 125 dropped from 100 to 44. I do believe this new plan might be working. I am blessed. Hugs and prayers to all, Lou Ann

Good news that CA is
Good news that CA is dropping. Do you like salmon? When my blood count dropped, I went on line and looked up what could increase the numbers, one of them was salmon. I went to the store and bought a few packages of smoked salmon and ate it with crackers. The next time I had the blood test done before the next chemo treatment my count was higher. I do not know if it was the salmon or not but I had read that it does help. Good Luck and I will keep you in my prayers. trish

in spite of the low platelets- I don't think that is unusual, Lou Ann. The fact that your Ca-125 has dropped more than half is great news! Don't be discouraged, although I can understand why you might be. In the grand scheme of things, it sounds like you are improving.
Warm Wishes,
Cathy

I am right there with you. They pulled me in tomorrow for another round of monitoring. I am hoping it goes well because we are planning on going out of town tomorrow for the weekend and we need it! Take care, rest, let the body heal. I am thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

Lou Ann, I hope the break gives your body the time it needs to build up. I read on another post earlier in the week that orange juice every day for 72 hours before your blood test will also improve your blood count. I'm starting to drink it every day just for the nutrition and the hopes of the count improvement. I am also a very picky eater dang it! I do manage to eat what I consider a healthy diet - making sure I get in my fruits and veggies every day. But, I don't like things like green leafy too much. I have learned to eat broccoli steamed with carrots and onions with low fat cheese on top. Mostly my "greens" are beans and sweet peas. I have managed to maintain a healthy weight and all of the other blood work over the years has been good, so it must be good enough.
Anne, Have a wonderful trip / weekend. You most defintely need a break! (I'm thinking positive that you get the green light to go!)
Love and Hugs,
Cindi

Orange juice is my usual breakfast drink, Once in awhile I add pineapple juice to it because it is supposed to help with inflamation. It is good to know I might be doing something good for my body. Green beans and peas are also my usual green veggies, I can stand Broccoli if it is smohered with cheese. Absolutely hate onions in any form I Don't mind salads with lettuce. Lou Ann

I used to hate them too. I learned to like them cooked to death. :-)

I went for my blood test today and my WBC was low so our son grilled salmon tonight for me. It was soooo good. I have to go back next week for retesting. Hopefully it will work for me.
Take care,

So sorry to hear that. I hope the salmon works. Do you have your blood test the week before chemo or on the same day? Mine are on the same day, so if something is to low we have to postpone chemo and try again the next week. Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann

My blood test are scheduled for day 10 and day 20 between chemo sessions. I'm supposed to start physical therapy tomorrow but have to get the ok from my doctor since I was bleeding on Friday. At least now I qualify for Neulasta.
Take care,
Eldri

Much better news
My platelets were back above 100 to day so chemo is back on schedule. 4 hrs today and 7 1/2 tomorrow. only clitch is that my pulse rate is running quite high and my oncologist is concerned, but has no clue as to why. He is going to look into it a lttle more and may send me to a cardiologist.
We drove 60 miles on snow and ice and got there on time this mormning.
Hugs and prayers to all of you, Lou Ann

So glad to hear that you are back on schedule. Yikes, I can't imagine driving that far in those conditions. Good luck with your long day tomorrow!
