Raised blister like bumps on tongue
Hello all,
It's been awhile since we've posted here. Dale is 5 years post operation and 4 1/2 years after all chemo and radiation. All clear and really no matters to address since all treatments. He had stage 4 throat cancer on tongue and 3 lymphnodes. HPV based.
He has some small, raised bumps on his tongue. maybe about a dozen. Looks like tiny water-fillled blisters. No pain at all. They really don't bother him. He went to his family doctor and she said it looked like his taste buds had a reaction to something maybe. She was not concerned but prescribed magic mouthwash. He's only seeing his ENT every 9 months and it's quite a drive. Bumps been there for about 3 weeks. Have any of you experienced anything similar? Please post back as soon as possible. We pray for all of you every day.

I agree with Barb....
It probably isn't anything to be concerned about....but it's been three weeks. I'd want an ENT to tell me that it's just tastebuds gone awry.

PS...has he been sucking hard candy or anything that would be a persistant irritant?

Have your primary doctor to look.
Sounds like a reaction. Sorry to admit this but when I was about 5 maybe 6 I took ice from the deep freese [-10] and it stuck to my tounge. Yep, I pulled instead of putting water on it. You know your tast buds are pretty long too, must have been 2mm at least. I never did that again. You know those white peal off dots you put on the holes on paper so there stronger for a binder. If you put it on your tounge and put food coloring first, count the tast buds in the center of the hole. If you have more than 20 you are concidered a supertaster. Means not only you have more tast buds, but dark green vegtables will tast bitter, and fat on beef they don't like most of the time. Also can be more sensitive also.
Might try saltwater and that will help heal most mouth problems.

don't think it's anything to worry about. They should go away soon with some gargling. Mine were clear and I called them water blisters, can he bust one with his tongue. Mine were very flimsy and I could burst them. I never had them for that long. Are they popping and reappearing or are they the same ones that remain?
